Expertise on raw materials has developed  over the years thanks to :

•  Senegal and its infinite natural resources. Our passion for this plant, with its remarkable long lifespan and unfathomed therapeutic properties, have led us to work with the primary governmental, university and presidential organisations of Senegal. We are especially grateful to President Abdoulaye Wade and his wife Viviane Wade, who encouraged us tremendously.

•  Invaluable botanical advice from Prof. Gerald Wickens, leading world expert of Adansonia and ex former director of the Royal Botanic Garden Kew.

WickensBaobabYou can finally buy his new book (2008) here or read some pages online here.
This book is the only comprehensive account of all eight species in the genus Adansonia. It describes the historical background from the late Roman period to the present. It covers the extraordinary variety of economic uses of baobabs, famous trees, folk traditions and mythology, art associations, life cycle, natural history, cultivation, conservation, distribution and ecology, and phytogeography. There are also appendices on vernacular names, gazetteer, economics, nutrition and forest mensuration. The Book for Real Baobab Guru.

First class baobab trees and fruits in the Tambacounda region of Senegal

The closed Baobab fruit and fresh leaves are directly collected in Senegal's driest regions, in the spontaneous forests of Tambacounda, with the assistance of Wula Nafaa, a USAID affiliate. Nine villages share the gains.
The year transformation of 140 tonnes of fruit (150 t. in 2005, 150 t. in 2006, 100 t. in 2007, 150 t. in 2008) - purchased at 25% above the selling price to local merchants (Banabana). Translated into profit, economic stability and a new source of revenue for over 800 people. (Read article)

Thanks to our unfailing collaboration with local villages and continual presence in Senegal, this Baobab crop is unique in terms of quality.

Each fruit is carefully checked. If broken, the fruit is sold on the local markets. Production standards required by western markets mean that the entire baobab fruit has to be collected.

Under harsh climatic conditions, the fruit's woody shell protects its high micro-nutritional values for long periods. A high percentage of fruits is discarded (over 44% of the shell's weight) However, this process enables us to obtain raw materials that are distributed primarily on European & USA markets, with the approval of the strictest health authorities.
